How do I get rid of Chrome (against my wishes. I've try to uninstall it several times), Whenever Chrome updates Firefox totally disappears. Also when I restart my phone, a Moto Pure, Firefox totally disappears. and Chrome comes back. I have tried to uninstall Chrome but It never seems to work, instead it "updates" and we Firefox goes. Is this a sinister plot? or am i doing something wrong?

Hi

Thank you for you great question. I use a Moto E and I have recent de-Googled my phone (it feels great!), so hopefully I can help with this.

Please appreciate that Android comes with different interfaces from different handset manufacturers. If you are using Motorola, it should be fairly close to default Android, but apologies if some options are a little different.

This is what worked for me:

  1. Open the Settings app (cog wheel icon).
  2. Open the Apps menu.
  3. Find Chrome and open it. This will open the App info menu for that app.
  4. Select Disable.

With Chrome being a Google product, it is (as far as I am aware) not possible to remove it from Chrome, but by doing the above it will not function and its icon will be parked out of the way on a "disabled apps" menu if you (for some reason) want it back.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

Keep rocking the mobile web.
