I have a Macbook Pro and I use TB to access my gmail account. I have lots of emails and I file them in sub folders as required. The problem is that out of my 120G capacity on my hard drive, I only have just over 1G left of space. I have removed most of my documents from the hard drive but it hardly makes a difference to the space available. I suspect that my emails are taking up most of the space but am not sure. My All Mail folder has in excess of 78,000 emails but that number doesn't seem to go down when I delete emails in the inbox and other folders. What can I do to help this situation? Is the All Mail folder just copies of all emails ever received or sent from my account? Can I delete the All Mail folder without deleting the mails I want to keep? Please help. Running out of room!

"All mail folder" have all mails from all folder, including (not compacted) trash and junk. Gmail doesn't use folders, they keep all mails in one folder and just mark them with flags ("inbox-flag", "sent-flag" ... etc)

By subscribing to ALL MAIL you just double your mails. So unsubscribe.

To be safe check your account settings / Syncronize & storage / advanced so you DONT have ALL-MAIL marked. Restart Tbird. You shouldn't have that folder any more. Or at least you cant see it. To further retrieve space delete or move the All-Mail-mbox-file somewhere external.

Remember to empty trash and keep your inbox small and regularly compact your folders
