Google's "Search Tools" button missing in Firefox on PC (works in Chrome)

When searching with Google using Firefox, I cannot see the "Search Tools" button displayed where it normally is, below the search field, after "Web", "Images", "Video" etc. There is only a limited date range on the left hand side, meaning I cannot filter search results properly. If I try an Image search, my options for image size are limted to "Large", "Medium" and "Icon" (which is pretty much useless if I want to specify images above/below/exactly a particular size etc.)

Using Chrome, however, the "Search Tools" button still appears and thus I am able to access the full range of search options.

^As per other support threads out there, the issue seems to be occuring with other users, BUT these threads are all related to Android/mobile, NOT PC.

Obviously, the easiest workaround is to just use Chrome instead of Firefox. But I don't want to use Chrome because Google is Evil. So... any ideas?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

1. Reloaded webpage: Issue unresolved (No idea why anyone would think this would resolve it; the issue occurs EVERY time I use Google Search in Firefox so obviously just reloading the page doesn't fix it)

2. Cleared cache and removed cookies: Issue unresolved

3. Started Firefox in Safe Mode: Issue unresolved

EDIT: Logging into my gmail account in Firefox brings the "Search Tools" button back! But does anyone know of a way to bring these options back as default without being logged in? I know this is possible because I have access to another PC where Firefox shows "Search Tools" button WITHOUT being logged in.
