Hi scarabrae,
I do not have a specific answer as to whether AVG linkscanner will work with up-to-date versions of Firefox.
It does appear to have been a problem in the past, that this and other security applications additional features are not always updated in time, to run when Firefox releases are newly made. You may find there is now a compatible version available.
- see also thread /questions/908259#
- which had a solution and links to various AVG forum posts and faqs
You may also find that the feature does not add much to Firefox, as Firefox already offers some protection against anti-phishing and fake sites

(that is a long article it will scroll)
I am sure you will find answers on the AVG support forum.
Once you update to Firefox 12 you will find a further update is required,as we are now on Firefox 13. It is recommended you update as support for firefox 3.6 and 12 has ceased, and they are now not secure. See also
