After installing the latest version, Firefox goes back to 35.0.1 after a while.

I am running Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit at the school where I work, and when I install the latest version (47.0.1), it works fine for a while, but suddenly it says that my add-on (Self-destructing Cookies) is not compatible, and when I check, the version is suddenly 35.0.1, and then it starts to update itself to the latest version again. And when I look in the installed programs list, I have BOTH 35.0.1 and 47.0.1 in the list.

I have uninstalled Firefox completely, deleted all Mozilla folders, and all Mozilla keys in the registry, and then reinstalled it, but this still happens after a while.

At home I am using Windows 10 Professional 64-bit in all my PCs, using the same add-on, and the same Firefox account to sync, and this never happens there.

Firefox Sync does not update Firefox itself or try to Synchronise Firefox versions. On Windows Firefox should by default keep itself updated.

With the School System you should possibly consider using the ESR channel of Firefox.Rather than using unsafe none supported old versions.

Quite possibly you do have both Fx35 and Fx 47 installed on the School system, maybe you have a 32 bit and a 64bit version of Firefox

Any possibility that you have security or backup software that is preventing changes or restoring software.

What is the self destructing cookies addon you mention ? if it is this one it appears to be compatible with current Firefox versions

You may be on to something here... Maybe version 35.0.1 is being pushed out by SCCM or some other function in our Active Directory environment. I will have to look into that. Thanks!
