Incredibly, Thunderbird will not save a login password even though the box is checked. Not only that, a sign in with Google screen keeps popping up every two or three minutes. What the blankety-blank is wrong? How can this email client, so many years in development, behave so stupidly? I've checked various links from Mozilla and others, but none of the so-called solutions actually work. I need to know:

1. How can I convince Thunderbird to save my login passwords?

2. How can I stop the sign in with Google screen from constantly reappearing?

Cokies are enabled. Signing in with Google has no effect. I complete the form, but no sign in occurs. Same with my Comcast email account, I enter the user name and password, but no sign in occurs.
