in yahoo email at attatchment will not automatically open as it does with other computers with firefox

on all my other computers running firefox/yahoo/mail , if I open an attachment(ie pdf) the appropriate program automatically opens the attatchment. On this computer it only goes as far as the download window and I then have to tell it to open from the download window.This is a win-xp os. my others are win7.
