I am trying to get video clips from youtube so i can edit them together to make my own videos. using the easy youtube downloader add-on, i saved the videos to an mp4 format, after the video is downloaded, when i attempt to open it, all the player say that it is not a comptable file format (eventhough the save says .mp4) or the codec is unsupported, what can i do to support the codec, or obtain the videos in a fashion i can use them?

Ive tried WMP and trying to load the files in Camtasia, regardless of what player i use, i get the same message saying file format or the codec is not supported

YouTube is changing its format to DASH video and audio formats. It means you cannot play them alone. You need to download both streams and then combine them together. I know https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-video-and-audio-dow/ does this automatically. Not sure about easy youtube downloader add-on.
