I need to make Yahoo search my default search engine because if I need to search from the program, I need uncensored results.

So far I've not been able to add https://search.yahoo.com/search? to the program.

What am I overlooking?

Colin, To add a search engine, the 'add' button prompts for a URL. What I posted is the one that I use.

Not sure what that is, ...

Can you add search.yahoo.com with that URL David? I can't! But I am also not in the USA so I am genuinely asking as it may be some for of redirection that breaks it for me.

Not that I really care, I consider yahoo another failed internet company. But it would be good to have a definitive answer, or perhaps file a bug. Not sure right now the correct way forward.

Matt, I did it by using this URL: https://www.addictivetips.com/web/find-search-query-url-for-search-engines I've never used Yahoo, preferring Duckduckgo, but I saw the question as a puzzle to resolve. As you indicated, my solution is likely dependent on network.

David, the url contains tracking specific to you.

https://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%s

But from that I am able to derive the above which was accepted.

And that works, so thank you for the pointer.

You too Matt.

@David, like you I don't use Yahoo, I also picked this up as a bit of a challenge. I have a couple of mail accounts at yahoo as leftovers from the millennium and even maintain an AOL one for testing, but by and large, I feel they are another failed .com

So the upshot is I actually wonder if yahoo actually support open search or in typical Yahoo fashion do a poor job of implementing a web standard. I had been unable to add Yahoo to Thunderbird. All the URL's I tried including https://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%s resulted in the same inability to add the Open search provider.

After bouncing around for a while I struck an XML file written by Jasher2000 for adding Yahoo search to Firefox. It contained the URL https://search.yahoo.com/search?p={searchTerms}&fr=opensearch which did work to add the engine.
