That is because it is Norton Software. It normally comes bundled with paid for software.

You may wish to consider whether it is needed. There could well be problems every six weeks when Firefox updates, and you need to wait for the Norton software to catch up. The safe safe search feature is probably similar to what Firefox is able to do anyway

Using the Identity Safe creates a good reason for then not leaving the paid for software - seems a good marketing ploy to retain users.

Symantec claims that the problem will be corrected by updating their software via running Live Update repeatedly. Well, I have been doing that for months now. Norton linked to Win IE, and while it knows that Firefox is there, it just will not link in.
