There are now only 7 font available on Firefox, each ugly and hard to read; can I get my old FF back?

That is my question. These fonts are ugly and hard to read. I don't want to "get used to them." Please tell me how I can get a decent font? Also, when I go from, for example the NYT enewsletter to the one on the server, it changes the whole text to the horrible unreadable font!
