I'm using Thunderbird 78.12.x

screenshot here

I've setup POP mail access to my self hosted email address, and have set it to leave emails on there for 90days only.

The problem I'm having are:

1. When TB downloads the email, it marks it as READ on my webmail. I mostly access my emails on my webmail and I don't want TB marking them as "read". I've check the settings and can't find any option to keep emails as "unread" on the server

2. I've set TB to leave server for 90 days only but checking my webmail, i've still get emails going far beyond 90days... TB is not deleting emails for some reason https://i.imgur.com/FaTH76z.jpeg

Any ideas?

Are you using Bitdefender ? You can turn the Bitdefender anti spam module off in the Bitdefender "protections" menu and that seems to stop the new mail from being marked as read immediately.
