Firefox for Android seems to be unable to login to websites

Basic login (enter username and password) works fine when using Chrome on my Android device but NOT when using Firefox. No error indication is revealed. When selecting a "Login" button after entering a username & password the prior web page continues to be displayed as if nothing had been been done. Same result when selecting "Go" from the pseudo keyboard after entering the password.
