when I sign in via bookmark to live mail a text window popsup with the text:opening default.aspx you have chosen to open default aspx which is a aspx file from http//by 154.mail.live.com what should Firefox do with this file ? open or save it ? But I did not ask for this file at all I only want to get to my mailbox in windows live and this popup prevents that from happening. When I chose open file the problem remains and when I do not use the bookmark option which is a shortcut and instead use the adress bar to fill in name of hotmail .com then I can get to my mailbox but not via the bookmark trying the first time the first attempt fails and only works after opening the windows live mailbox by using the adress bar on the toolbar.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

There have been problems reported with Hotmail, possibly related to Hotmail rolling out a server change at their end.
