Thunderbird does not recognize my new Verizon smpt settings and I cannot send any emails. Help!

I have tried to change my smpt setting to the new verizon setting but when I attempt to send an email, I get a message that Thunderbird does not recognize smpt.verizon.net as a smpt setting.

It's smtp.verizon.net. You need to fix your typo.
