If I close the IE window it starts up again. I have looked in the config file opened with about:config but find nothing. I don't know where else to look. I have cleared all history and cache. This is on my wife's computer. Needless to say she isn't happy. Any ideas wold be most appreciated.

Actually I searched for the address after posting the message and found an article about it being a virus. That article said some program had been installed recently. It gave a list of programs, and although mine wasn't in there, I did find a recent one called "gorilla" something. After uninstalling it the problem went away. http://malwaretips.com/blogs/click-cpvrdr-com-removal/

Google searches suggest you have a malware infection on that computer. For example, see this article:

In Step 2 of that article, resetting Firefox is fast, but if your wife does not want to have to reinstall add-ons, I suggest instead reviewing/disabling/removing extensions manually.

Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions (or if possible, Remove them).

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that clean it up?
