A while ago I subscribed to an RSS, but all that happened was that two empty folders were created and they're impossible to delete. They just return. I run the latest Thunderbird on an updated Windows 11 PC.

Try right clicking the RSS account level in the folder pane and selecting subscribe. The folder are somewhat odd. I really do not understand it, but when you subscribe you will see the folder and under it the actual subscribed feed.

I did that several times. The folders were empty and as you say, odd. Deleted them but they just came back. The solution was going into the profiles folder, locate the odd folders there and delete them. Now they're finally gone!
