I want to disable all requests for web push notifications. There is no chance that I will ever want or allow this, ever.

I have set about:config dom.push.enabled to FALSE and I STILL GET THEM!!!

How do I turn this annoying crap off?

Maybe all of my coworkers are right....Maybe I just need to use another browser, but I have been so loyal for so long. Why do you make me look so bad all of the time when I try and defend you? You pull things like this and I have no rebuttal to them.

Have you tried to set dom.webnotifications.enabled to 'false'  ?

See if that will work - and don't forget to close and restart Firefox after you've changed the value.

By the way : I don't think your coworkers are right - Firefox gives users the option to allow notifications, and doesn't force anything upon the users ..... It's always good to have choices in life, isn't it  ?

See here in this page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/push-notifications-firefox#w_how-do-i-revoke-web-push-permissions-for-a-specific-site

This does nothing except remove sites that have already requested permission. I want to disable ever being notified if I even want to give permission. This is like getting a built in popup for every site I visit. It is the worst feature I have ever seen in years. How do you turn this shit off???

I am trying this now, fingers crossed! I did the *DOM.PUSH*, but not the *DOM.WEBNOTIFICATIONS* So hopefully it is that simple, but getting to this point was way more painful and time consuming that should ever be necessary for something so basic. This should be a prompt in setup and install... "Do you want FF to remember passwords - NO", "Do you want to be continuously annoyed every time you open a website or tab, with a global preference choice that we will ask you every time - NO"  :)

Those web notifications did you or were you registered at those sites? That is how you also get notifications as well and did you check there wasn't any software notifications installed by those web sites that permits them to track your Browsing and send you notifications? Only time I get notification is if I saved the login/pswd and any those site will be alerted when your Browser starts and they send the notifications. Otherwise something installed is sending them a Ping that your online and then sending you the web notifications. I've used the web all this time IE, Edge, Chrome and FF and don't get web notifications as your describing.

It's not the notifications that I am frustrated with.

It is the fact that 50% of the sites I visit, I get asked IF I want to allow them to send notifications. The answer is NO. The answer will always be NO, forever, so quit asking me.

Think if every single time you opened your browser FF, Chrome, Edge, Safari, IE, Opera, Konquerer, etc. What if each one asked you if you want it to be the default browser, every time you opened it and every time you went to a new tab.

This is the behavior that makes people insane.

So, why do developers constantly turn this on, with no thought of the complete disruption it causes, for all? If you are going to add a "feature", and I use that term very loosely, give people a choice to disable it immediately. That is such a microsoft thing to do. Have some random developer who is so proud they worked on some random feature and cram it down everyone's throat, because one team thinks it is beneficial.

p.s. I am glad you have used the web all this time.
