Why are my addons no longer showing on addon bar?

I use the Latest BBC News 1.31.1 addon which, until a short time ago, was always present on my addon bar. I have also just downloaded the Watch UK TV 1.46.1 addon, but this does not appear on the addonbar either. Both addons are enabled (and both have been developed by Mike Redrobe). Does anyone know how to get them to reappear? I have already tried removing and reinstalling, to no avail. The addons have not ended up on the Tools menu, nor are they in the Customise panel. This problem is driving me nuts!! I have Windows 7 Home Premium and am currently using Firefox 27

Managed to fix the problem myself (I seem to remember doing the same thing when the problem occurred once before):

Go to Tools-->Options-->Privacy. Choose 'Use custom settings for history' , and 'Accept third-party cookies' (I don't think it really matters is you check the other options or not).

This has worked for me.
