Been running beta version 105.0 beta 3 thunderbird - this version was up dated in September. Oct 19 another update came through and we started receiving duplicate download of emails even those we have already deleted more than two weeks ago. And if we deleted this extra emails, these emails were replaced and the others were also re downloaded. Needless, to say, it got old receiving 180+ duplicate emails every time when you try to get rid of them. So we ended up with many many copies of the same email. Emails after a certain time frame come in fine. We have another email account we don't use much and wasn't affected by this duplicating problem.

While trying to figure out this mystery, I inadvertently downloaded another version of thunderbird and this overwritten the version we were using erasing files (emails) we had saved in the older version. Is there a way to recover this older version and the files we lost? I've tried finding the answer and seem to be running blind.

And by the by, to add insult to injury, the newer version downloaded the same 180+ emails, but now seems to be working like it should.

107.0b2 should solve the duplicate downloads.

If it is still a problem ...

What OS and antivirus software? What mail service provider?

The newer version that I accidentally downloaded is working fine. I'm needing a way to restore the files this version overwritten.

I don't know of a way to recover what you are looking for.

after a week of looking in the dark. found a solution for my problem hidden on my computer, just like some of the fixes claim, but never tell you exactly where to find it. now everything is working fine.
