Youtube has been using a HTML5 player for a good while now.

If a couple check marks are red then you may be missing ffmpeg package as Gstreamer has not been used since 45.0 and earlier. https://www.youtube.com/html5/

The official builds of Firefox since 52.0 and later on Linux requires use of PulseAudio to play sound and no longer plays sound directly with ALSA in case this matters.

YouTube uses the HTML5 media player and not the Shockwave Flash plugin.

You can open the YouTube test page to check support in Firefox for playing HTML5 media.
