How do I automatically spellcheck before sending an e-mail?

I sometimes forget to spellcheck my e-mail and it used to have Thunderbird set to automatically spellcheck before the message is sent out. I can't figure out how to get this to work again. I know I can manually spellcheck, but sometimes I send out e mails in a hurry and they go would with misspelled words. Can you tell me how to reset this? Thanks Mark Martucci
