Emails were blocked from being sent out of Thunderbird. The solution was to change the smtp Outgoing settings, which works but only once: Telstra (email provider) recently upgraded it's security and the Outgoing Server details needed changing to "smtp.telstra.com" with Port 465, SSL/TLS, Normal Password, user name. The old default Outgoing Server was smtp.bigpond.com etc.

I deleted all the old Outgoing Server details and changed the old "smtp.bigpond.com" to "smtp.telstra.com" etc as the default. All was fine, emails could now be sent. The problem is that when Thunderbird is closed and reopened all the old smtp settings are being restored and the new SMTP settings removed/deleted. Emails now can't be sent again until the smtp settings are changed back to smtp.telstra.com etc. I've tried the advanced option and removed old smtp settings but that didn't work. Each time Thunderbird is closed the new Outgoing SMTP settings are overwritten by the old values. Is there somewhere on the C drive that I can access to delete the old settings manually or some other solution?

I'm looking for the DOM for the currently selected folder. I'd like to alter the style of the border and remove the annoying vertical bar on the left. If anyone can provide the CSS selectors I'd be grateful.

Also, if someone can point me in the direction of how to find this information for myself, that would also be cool.

Thanks in advance!

I have a couple of networked desktops running Ubuntu Linux. Attempting an ( unsuccessful ) software upgrade , wiped out my Thunderbird email connection on the affected machine. I still have a functioning version on the other.

To reinstate email on my non-functional Thunderbird, I need my email password.
Where in my functional version might I find it?

Since 8/31/24 I have been getting messages on all devices when I attempt to open my email account saying "Correct credentials needed. Enter credentials for islandlar@hawaii.rr.com." However, my password is not accepted and no option is provided for "forgot password." Any guidance around this dilemma would be appreciated.

I have been receiving emails and newsletters from a number of companies for many years. Suddenly last December many stopped coming. I have been in touch with one in particular and I am still on their mailing list. I am unable to find anywhere I can check. And before anyone says check your Junk folder. I do that every day. It has gotten to the point where I will have to stop using Thunderbird. Where can I look to find out what is wrong.

Is it possible to query the commandline options (especially the version) of firefox and thunderbird?

the only way i found out is to query windows registry: reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox" /s | findstr /I main reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Mozilla Thunderbird" /s | findstr /I main

The goal is: backup firefox and thunderbird profiles via script/batch and read the version for a later restore.

In a former version of Thunderbird, selecting the "Quick Filter" button would cause an extra bar below the search filter to appear with various different icons you could press to filter messages by whether they had an attachment, whether they were starred, etc.

Now, it seems the default is instead to hide all of these options a bit inconveniently in a small "settings"-like button dropdown, with only words rather than helpful icons. To boot, this button is strangely aligned to the topleft, giving it very irregular padding that makes it feel a bit janky.

How can I get back the original behavior? It felt far more intuitive and required much less precise clicking.

Hello We have a Thunderbird account with three emails. our subscription for information@glasgowfinearts-gafas.org.uk finishes on 21 September and we have a new email: information@gafas.org.uk. I have changed the default to this new email but when I try to login, it still specifies the old email and asks for that password. I am concerned that when the subscription for this ceases, I will not be able to get into Thunderbird. Can someone please advise? Thank you, Nancy Stevens

Hi community, I have browsed a bit in the web but haven't found a solution.

I'm a long-term Thunderbird user having this as my to-go-mail-client on every computer since almost 20 years and have always been happy with it. However since the last major update to 128.0.1 my Thunderbird has become very unresponsive whenever I start it or I receive an email.

I have 3 mail accounts in my Thunderbird set up. Two accounts are using POP, these seem to work as expected. The third account is a (company)-Google account that syncs mails via IMAP. Whenever I receive an email with this Google-account I see the blue loading bar at the bottom-right of the UI and this takes a while to load (even when receiving only one email), as long as this loads my Thunderbird is "Not responding". After approximately one minute I can read my new email and work as always (until a new mail comes in and it becomes unresponsive again). Needless to say that this is not very great for working productive and I hope to find a solution, so I don't have to get used to a new mail client.

Currently I'm on 128.1.1 on Windows 11, as said this issue started with the update to 128.0.1 some weeks ago.

Happy to provide more details or test some steps if someone has a helpful idea how to improve things

Greetings. Long-time Thunderbird user on PC and before now trying to load onto 2024 Macbook pro. Configuration identical to that on PC and have checked with person running with same configuration on mac. When tried to initially configure Thunderbird reported could not find email settings though email and password were correct, so configured manually.

Now trying to send mail get "login to account "smtp.gmail.com" failed. No way to bypass and do not know how to fix. Outgoing sever is SMTP and is configured correctly using OAUTH2.

Tried running in troubleshoot mode but no difference. Also not receiving any email.

thanks much for any tips jp

I am using Bitdefender Internet Security. I do NOT want it checking my emails. I have Anti-Spam for email in that software disabled.

I also have the Thunderbird Anti Virus feature to "make it easy for anti-virus software to analyse incoming mail messages for viruses before they are stored locally" disabled.

Yet, I still see a somewhat greyed out Bitdefender feature top right in Thunderbird ever since I updated Thunderbird several iterations to 128.1.0esr (64-bit), and the REAL PROBLEM is that now it takes a long time for my email to get downloaded from the mail servers.

So I suspect that Bitdefender is still able to check that email thus delaying it in the download process, and having the feature in Thunderbird for Anti Virus disabled is simply stopping Bitdefender from tagging emails as spam and moving them into the junk folder (which is also undesirable to me).

If I have that Anti Virus feature in Thunderbird disabled, I would expect that it should make it impossible for Bitdefender to even place a button, greyed out or not, in Thunderbird, or have any other access to it for any reason whatsoever.

I really hope there's a solution I'm somehow missing, or that Mozilla can address this, as it's a real pain waiting an extra few minutes every time I download my email!
