I reinstalled Firefox and now it will not play mp3 files via m3u ( W- XP). What to do?

On my homepage I use -m3u files to make the browsers open a -mp3 file. After formating my computer and starting all over again Firefox won't open the -mp3 files which it did before the formatting. IE,however, opens up and plays the mp3 file just as it used to do.

What is the problem and how do I solve it? I have several players installed, for instance Windows Mediaplayer , Appels Quick Time,l VCL, Nero

The answer is simple: Firefox, for some unknown reason, doesn't play MP3 files natively. Stupid, but true... And although you've installed Quicktime, you still have to tell it to play MP3 files. Here is the answer: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1247425
