I want to stop default squelch sound that Firefox makes when I open a new tab

more options

Every time I open a new tab, Firefox make a noise. I want to stop it. Doesn't matter whether it is a new blank tab or a linked tab, I hear the same sound. There is nowhere obvious to turn it off. Any ideas please?

Does this only happen in Firefox. Maybe it is some odd extension you are using, or some security related software. It is not a Firefox feature as far as I am aware.

Please post back saying what you have tried and how you got on.

In another thread, I think it was mentioned that the Autofill extension has some sounds that it makes. Can you check that one?

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Many extensions will have an Options button. You might also just disable all the ones you don't need for the next 24 hours and see whether that knocks it down.
