The movies on my showreel site: http://www.scyldbowring.com play fine in Safari, IE and Chrome, but Firefox will not stream them, so the user has to wait till they load before they will play. The wait is way too long for most people. Is there any way I can host these movies (mp4s) so they can stream for anyone using Firefox?

You can try to add a MIME type like type="video/quicktime" to see if that helps.

thanks. can you explain where i would add that?

That MIME type would need to be added as an attribute to each EMBED tag that loads a QT movie.
You can test if it works by changing one of them.
I'm on Linux, so I do not have QuickTime available to test this.

<EMBED SRC="http://..../YOU.mp4" WIDTH="480" HEIGHT="340" AUTOPLAY="true" CONTROLLER="true" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" kioskmode="true" type="video/quicktime">
