Beta SMTP Password Error
I updated my comcast password recently. Now when I try to send an email I get error about password - dialog comes up one option being reset password. When I click this I expect a dialog to open allowing me to enter the correct password but nothing happens.
I went to saved password dialog and removed the entries there hoping that would force Thunderbird to ask me for password - no joy.
In the Beta version how do I update SMTP password? I do not want to recreate the profile because then I lose lots of stuff - I JUST want to update the SMTP password. None of the pages I find are helping me.
Chosen solution
You might try this: - in the profile, with TB not running, rename these three to force creation of new ones: - logins.json - k4.db - cert9.db
Doing that removes any encrypted passwords.

I have my doubts on whether this fixes your issue, but here is the info you requested: - click settings>privacy&security - click saved passwords and then show passwords - highlight the row of your smtp server - rightclick and a menu opens to edit password
this did not help - in saved passwords there are no entries listed. And no way to add new entries. I thought if I removed the saved login then Thunderbird would prompt me for the password. Now it is telling me I am connected go imap.comcast.net but no new messages are being received and no messages are going out.
Why is it so darn hard to fix password issues in Thunderbird?
is it possible to edit a file directly to put the new password? Are saved passwords stored in a file I can edit?

Thank you - removing the files noted did cause me to be challenged for password - this has been way too frustrating - but my problem is solved so thank you so much
You are very welcome.
