Why does it suggest an update when I already have the latest version installed, everyday.

I get a notification saying that an update is available, every single day, even though the available "updated" version is the same as the version already installed. e.g. 16.0a2

You are running Aurora it appears, which does get updated frequently. I would suggest uninstalling that, and installing the Stable version of Firefox. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox. Aurora is meant more for testing and diagnostic purposes, not for daily use.

The Aurora development channel is suppose to only get updates whenever there are checkins and since there are checkins almost everyday, there are updates each of those days. The version number does not change.

To tell whet build you have look at the build date in user agent or in about:buildconfig source link.

edit: Looks like Aurora is now going with the dumb idea of no build date in UA that was only in Nightly channel before ever since move/merge of channels recently.

You could even try testing the Beta channel where Firefox 15.0 is on as updates are every so often. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox_beta
