Some pernicious change occurred with the latest version of Firefox because now I have to do an extra click and go through the library to then open my downloads folder. I don't like the separate library window...it's not convenient and it's more work to use than it's worth. I used to be able get to the downloads folder directly by clicking on the down arrow in my extension tool bar which showed all recent downloads (even after rebooting) and then access to the download folder was right next to any of the recent downloads. Worked great that way. It used to be a quick way to get to the downloads folder and now I have to download a file before I can use that method, but then it disappears again if I close Firefox. How do I get that back permanently. I don't want that list to disappear each time I exit and restart Firefox. I already tried "privacy.clearOnShutdown.downloads" and that has no effect. What would be the correct setting in about:config ? Steve

Hello,
I have a really high RAM usage with Firefox.
What is intriguing, is, from the "about:performance" tab I totalize 6.02 GiB of RAM. And from the System Monitor, 14.59 GiB (+242.4%).
I suspect a memory leak.
Attached: - Screenshots of the System Monitor - Screenshots of the "about:performance" tab

Mozilla is usually slow loading and laggy in most ways. Also, videos are always choppy on Youtube. Almost causes my computer to crash. I have compared it to Microsoft Edge and the issue seems to be Firefox. I'm at a wall here.

Basically, I switch tabs a lot, and often between bright websites and dark websites. I know that Firefox has a way to force websites to dark mode, though it applies it to all websites. I don't really want that because some websites just look awkward when Firefox applies its dark mode to them. I want to know how to have Firefox only apply dark mode in a few domains that I choose? Thank you.

How are my bookmarks stored when synced between devices? Are my bookmarks encrypted as well as my passwords/credit card info? This is from the Mozilla page regarding encryption:
"Your encryption key remains a secret, only known to you and your authorized devices." and "We store your encrypted data on our servers so we can’t read it."
I just wanted to make sure this also applies to bookmarks before I import all of mine.
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
I asked about this a while ago, but now I can't find the response. I go to about 10 websites regularly throughout the day every day. Yet for a few sites, FF refuses to autofill the actual sites I go to. If I type an r, I get Raw Story; if I type C, I get CNN, and so on. But even though I have never typed in "www.rawstory.com," that's what I get when I type a w even though Wonkette is one of the sites I'm on all day. I also never type in "mail.google.com" because I have my email on the bookmarks bar, but that's what I get when I type an m instead of Mediate, another of the daily sites.
And it doesn't stop with Ctrl + delete because they don't turn up on the drop down list; they automatically populate the search bar, and then hitting delete for any reason just removes it from the bar, not from the list of suggestions. So my question is, how can I get Firefox to stop imposing itself on me when there is a clear pattern by now of what sites I visit all the time?
Thank you very much, Nandi

As of recent I've been having troubles with my Firefox browser. Out of nowhere it has started relentlessly purging my browser history to the point where nothing lasts more than a week now before getting deleted, and it is only getting worse. Prior to this Firefox would save data from over a year and simply just remove the oldest data in order to make room for the newest whenever necessary. That is no longer the case now.
I'm fairly certain that I haven't done anything to cause Firefox to do this, but I can't be sure. Looked in the settings and can't see anything that would cause this.
So my questions are: 1.) Can the history deleted be recovered? and 2.) Is it possible to get Firefox to stop purging my history on it's own so frequently?
Any and all help is appreciated.

How can we change the default behavior for ETP? I do not want it automatically enabled on all of my tabs and windows by default. If I need it, I would like to set it myself. It's causing issues with visiting various websites and I'm also a web developer. It's a little annoying with this turned on all the time. How can we set the default to Off and not On?

Ever since the last update, an annoying "Thank you for loving Firefox" tab opens every time Firefox is started.
Please disable or provide a fix to remove this annoying tab to never open again once seen by the end user.
Could not find a resolution searching online or in Mozilla Community. Just others complaining.
Version of Firefox is 108.0.2 (64-bit).

Thank you.
