Yahoo-mail and g-mail scan the subscribers e-mail content and the content of e-mails sent to subscribers. I consider this a breach of privacy I do not want to live with. Does Thunderbird prevent Yahoo from scanning the e-mail content?

Is thunderbird an e-mail accessing software but not an e-mail service? Please explain if one needs another e-mail or not, just thunderbird. Thank you C. Chronis
