When uploading a file type .zip (application/x-zip-compressed), FF changes the file type to .csv (application/octet-stream). I've tried the same process in IE and it works fine. It has worked fine for years using FF, but not now. Any ideas?

I have a .php process that I upload .zip files to (both compressed and uncompressed). Normally the file uploads and the .php process checks to make sure it is a .zip file. For some unknown reason, when I upload the .zip in FF, the file type (not the name), changes to application/octet-stream, when it should be application/x-zip-compressed. Could this be a new bug? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

You can try "Reset Download Actions": http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions

You can also try to check the application/octet-stream key in the registry and the .zip key.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/octet-stream
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip
