Gidday I have been using Thunderbird for quite some time and I have amassed a lot of emails and when I last exported the data, it came to 10Gb...now I know that you can only import 4Gb but is there any plan to update this? Also, is there any way that I can import (I have a new computer and need the old emails if possible) the data from the profile? I have read many of many ways to import but to me, they seem to have one or two vital steps missing... cheers col

Gidday Many thanks for the reply... After a few efforts of attempting to restore a profile (via the tools menu), I went to a backup and selected a 10Gb profile and after a few attempts it restored the emails and message filters...I don't know why it did as it rejected a couple of others of lesser size... cheers col

This suggestion assumes you are using Windows and that the profile is in the default location: On OLD computer: - exit thunderbird (this is IMPORTANT) - copy c:\users\<yourid>appdata\roaming\thunderbird to external drive On New Computer: - install thunderbird if not already installed. - exit thunderbird - copy the thunderbird folder on external drive to c:\users\<yourid>\appdata\roaming to overwrite the default thunderbird folder. - start thunderbird and all should be there.

TIP: be sure to do periodic backups the same way to simplify doing restore if needed.
