thanks cor-el i refuse to use google so the above solution was not applicable... but it did reveal that the solution is to be found in the search engine... not Firefox...

  ...so i am going to check out duckduckgo search engine's blog site:

Computer: Acer Swift 3 Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4700 RAM: 8Gb

OS: Kubuntu 22.04

Firefox: Recent or current (SNAP install in the last month).

Is that the information you need?

What i seek is to set the search time default (see attached pic) to 'Past Year' as 98% of my searches require this and resetting this every search seems unnecessary...
