images on facebook blocked with little descriptive remarks about the image blocked

more options

Since i have switched to firefox, I have noticed that a majority of the time, I am having images on facebook blocked. There will be little descriptive remarks about the image that show over the block. I can even click on the image to enlarge it, and still has the same issue. Right now, I have the line through the shield for Facebook; but... still the same thing repeatedly happens. Not a fan of firefox for that reason.

It's possible the description is Facebook's auto-generated "alt text" for when the image doesn't load. But why isn't it loading? Hmm... is Facebook the only site that is affected?

Have you tested in Firefox's Safe/Troubleshoot Mode? In that mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is running:

You can restart Firefox in Safe/Troubleshoot Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Help > Troubleshoot Mode... (before Fx88: Restart with Add-ons Disabled)
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Troubleshoot Mode... (before Fx88: Restart with Add-ons Disabled)

and OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click the Open button (before Fx88: "Start in Safe Mode" button).

If Firefox is not running:

Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.) A small dialog should appear. Click the Open button (before Fx88: "Start in Safe Mode" button).

Note: Don't use the Refresh without first reviewing this article to understand what will be deleted: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.

Any improvement?

You can try to disable HTTPP3 to see if that has effect.

  • about:config => network.http.http3.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".

I tried the safe mode, and it still did it in safe mode. Just tried the about:config:>network.http.http3enabled = false. three bubble showed up with the first one boolean?? marked. Clicked on + on the right. Will see what happens

I see your site does NOT like screenshots loaded as I have been trying to load a screenshot image of the page I got for the about:config screen. But, won't let me upload. Keeps spinning the little wheel.

You shouldn't have to create a new pref as the network.http.http3.enabled pref is there by default, so make sure you have the name correct.

I typed in about:config, and then cut and pasted the rest in the line when the page popped up. I don't know about the rest what you are trying to say. Maybe I should just try to find another browser that doesn't seem to be so difficult in displaying things on my facebook page. I shouldn't have to worry about programming so I can use my web pages. And, you all need to fix your programming yourself, since it seems like it does NOT allow for us to upload images, as it has been trying to upload my screenshot for the past 45 minutes. Seems ridiculous
