Just downloaded Thunderbird. It's taking forever to download all my old emails (thousands!) - 2 hours so far - and neither toolbar nor address bar are showing.

Main question is - can I use Thunderbird on an existing Chrome window by dragging it to a new tab? At the mo it won't do this, just wants to sit on its own in splendid isolation. Does Thunderbird serve as its own browser or something, hence won't be dragged to Chrome?

thanks for any help.

Thunderbird is a desktop application, Just a libre office is. So no, you can not drag it to a browser window. I really do not know what your expectations here are, but it is not an add-on for a browser.

Hi Matt, thanks for replying. I've no idea what a libre office is, but I'm not looking for any add on. I just want Thunderbird to sit in a tab in the same window as other tabs I have open so I don't have to keep switching between two open windows. Is that not possible?

No it is not possible. You want to use gmail or outlook.com or yahoo if you want it to open in a tab, they are web mail and therefore work in a browser tab.

Ah, got it, thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Am trying to get away from the dreaded new Outlook (Beta) version though! Guess I'll just have to work around this disadvantage of Thunderbird, as the lesser of two evils!
