Is there a way i can make In line edits and comments as in Outlook that will show my initials and indicate they are my edits from an email I am replying to?

Solution choisie

Place the cursor where you want to insert a reply, press return to insert a new line, start typing.

Thunderbird uses coloured bars down the side, or the traditional > markers in the left-hand margin to track who said what and when. I don't know of any tool to automatically apply your initials, but with the indentation presentation these are perhaps not as important as in Outlook's "flat" style of quoting.
