What the hell happened to my emails after the last upgrade?

After the last upgrade to 38.7.2, my entire Thunderbird account seems to have disappeared along with all, and I do mean all, of my emails past and present, received and sent. Now, when I click on the Mozilla Thunderbird icon on my desktop, I get sent to a page that seems to think I am a new user. What gives????
