"no messages to download" message when there are still new messages on server

T/bird has been working with my server for years - no problems at all. But now I am getting a "no messages to download" message even though my phone and web access routes show messages are on my server. This happened a few weeks ago and I thought I had fixed it by archiving some older messages. But that hasn't worked this time.

Probably an anti virus issue. Try disabling email scanning and reboot your computer.
