I have an issue with Thunderbird on my PC sending any email of any size larger than a few lines. I can send small test emails with a few lines (<1KB) however any email with attachment or forwarding an email results in a : Sending failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.themessagingco.com.au timed out.

I have tried all combinations of outgoing server settings as recommended by my provider Mail server settings including swapping Security and port but no luck. Please note I can send and receive without issue on my iphones with the same server settings. Currently using port 587, Normal password authentication and STARTTLS.

I found some posts suggesting turning off outgoing email scanning on antivirus - no luck. I have turned off firewalls - no luck. I have tried no authentication (security = none) - no luck.

Thunderbird version is 128.1.0esr (64 bit). Using Norton 360 Antivirus

Strange that I can send small emails but not a size that's of any use Any ideas ???

Hello, i have a problem to set up my A-Mail-Account (yahoo.de). I can fill the necessary fields (name, E-Mail, Password) and can choose imap-protocol. When i click on "done" a new window ist open. There i can fill the e-mail and password in the fields, then is shown "i prove if you are a robot". This will don't stop over a few of hours. Nothing goes on. I can only close this window. a screenshot shows the last status.

After updating to 128.1.0esr, the program does not load the content of older messages. The messages are empty. I repaired the folder, ran the program in troubleshooting mode, deleted the global-messages-db.sqlite folder. Reinstalling the program did not help. Restoring program data from backup does not work. Please help. Maybe installing an old version? where to download it?

even doing "Get messages" my emails don't appear. They appears if I go to "Get help"....Strange. See screenshot wher my emails appears in Outlook but not in Thunderbird

Keep getting a problem with Gmail, since it went to the new security login OAuth2, it works for a little while with all the permissions granted etc, then I come back a little while later, I get gmail popups (see images) asking to give permission for TBird to access gmail mail/contacts/calendar etc. I was getting a bit fed up with it so removed the gmail account on TBird - BUT I still get the popups even though I deleted the account... It's driving me nuts (win11, desktop etc). I haven't got a lot of hair left, so any help would be gratefully received!

Hi- First time here, using Nebula 128.1 esr. about 3 days, I have about 8 email accounts, (inbox messages for all accounts totalling about 22,000+ In one email account does not display the content of the inbox folder , sent folder is displaying the content of the messages, , other all email addresses are fine both inbox and sent so what I did is to right click the inbox folder and properties , click the repair folder and ok- after that i can already view the content , However I noticed that the email 2023 and 2024 in the inbox folder is already gone. Now my messages for all the email accounts is now about 10,000+ only which indicates that messages(inbox) 2023 and 2024 are already gone . Any chance to recover those messages 20023 and 2024? Checked the archive folder, there are only 2 messages there . My profiel is about 17G. see screenshot. Thank you in advance.

I’m trying to access an Apple calendar in Thunderbird. Read-only is fine.

I made the Apple calendar public & copied the URL. I then supplied the URL to Thunderbird. I receive a request for a password. The Apple calendar being public should not need a password. However, I created an app-spec password anyway, but supplying that password failed as well.

Am I doing something wrong?

I’m running Sonoma 14.6.1 & Thunderbird 128.0.1esr (64bit).

On Windows 10 after update from TB 115 to 128esr it started work very slow. I've did folder repairment and after that content of folder for past half year or a bit more disappeared. I was looking for many solutions for this but some of them didn't work or were not available.

Updating address: Mine will take NO new contacts, NO new groups, and NO new additions to groups already there. I do have the latest Thunderbird.

Found the following in account settings: C:\Users\Lee\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\tulu1gdy.default\Mail\Local Folders. Does this look right? What is tulu1gdy.default?

I've been looking for how/where to select a sound in the Task module (getting pop-ups). When I click on anything in the Task module, TBird hangs. It comes back in a few seconds, but the hangs continue.

When I spend more time trying to edit the Tasks, I also get hangs in the Email module (by clicking on anything).

Last night, after one T-Bird hang after another, everything on my computer slowed down, no heavy apps running. This morning I ran the pre-bootup diagnostics, which reported everything (memory, etc.) are okay.

So I'd like to t know how to get T-Bird running smoothly, or maybe I should forget the Tasks and Calendar and stick to email?

I hope someone can provide me with some advice.

I have used Thunderbird since its birth and have always found it reliable. However the latest release seems to be having problems with moving emails.

Example 1 - I moved an email from my Inbox to a special folder. The email was present in full before the move. Only the header appeared to be copied. I could not undo this and attempting repair on both inbox and other folder failed, as did exit and re-start. The result is that this email is lost.

Example 2 - I went to do a bulk move from the search window (something I have done hundreds of times before without incident). As usual CTRL A, Move to <new folder>, emails greyed out but nothing happens. Exit, return, repeat - same result.

At other times, both these type of operations work fine. But it is unpredictable.

Relatedly, I observe that on start-up the Inbox initially shows as <no messages> and takes several seconds to populate. Also, my auto-filing Rules are also working inconsistently.

These two points, and the two examples, are new issues for me since 128 release. I am using Windows 10 Pro on an HP Envy 17" laptop.

Any suggestions welcome as I am now concerned about losing emails!

When I open Thunderbird, it now shows me this screen for chat conversations. I am unable to go to the mail screen, and the options in the menu bar don't work. How can I resolve this? I only need to use the email functionality and not the chat functionality.

This issue is now closed. I had to reinstall Thunderbird and restore emails through backup.

The site told me to sign up to firefox to have my question answered for Thunderbird emails.

My emails from March 2018 to most of 2024 have disappeared. Then they started coming through again from June 6, 2024. Where are they?

Since installing Thunderbird, I am unable to send or receive email. "Could not detect login form" always displays at the bottom of the window. I've checked credentials and they are entered correctly. Where is the login form and how do I fix it?

We are using Thunderbird ESR v128 32bit. Windows 10 64bit.

Had some 14000 emails since 2012, all working good, incl. recent compacting 2m ago. Today there was another folder compacting running, possibly it didn't end as usual (no message, no error).

Since then we can see for about 6000 most recent emails only header, not the body nor attachments. Tried to repair the folder, it made 6000 headers disappeared completely.

When we checked Inbox and Sent mbox files in profile via text editor, last bottom entry/email there is from 2018 and the files are exactly 4 GB in size.

Is it possible that some 4 GB 32 bit Thunderbird limit was hit and that truncated the large mbox files?

Is there any way to find somewhere on local disk (some temp folder or files) the most recent missing 6000 emails?

Account is using POP and the files are not stored on mail server.

So, I'm currently testing the EWS integration and my email requires OAuth2. Unlike the 128 flatpak (which is all I can use on my main PC since it's immutable) where it would get stuck on Checking Password. My second machine has Ubuntu and I'm running the Daily from today.

It allowed me to create the account but will not pull down any emails, likely due to the lack of Oauth2. I've tried all of the other options for SSL/TLS Auth methods on the security settings for the incoming server. The only options are Normal Password, Encrypted Password, Kerberos/GSSAPI, and NTLM.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
