Mac OS 10.6.8 FF 5.1 There are no bookmarks available. When using the bookmarks dropdown menu "show all bookmarks", all I get is an empty screen with the words "no items". I can't bookmark pages any more. I trashed this copy of FF, and downloaded a new copy from Mozilla- same result. I used Time machine to get a copy from over a month ago FF 4.1 Same result. I then opened Safari and imported all FF bookmarks. They all work fine. Tried to import all back to FF. Firefox does not see them. I can read them when I open my profile folder in the finder. They are complete and in order in good condition. Computer seems to be in top condition, no problem.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
