Can't remove playbox.toolbarhome search from new tabs

more options

Any tabs or new searches in them use http://playbox.toolbarhome.com/search.aspx?q=google&srch=ku which not only offers lousy results, but I want to use google in all searches.

Fix on file is for Mac users only :

1. open firefox 2. type "about:config" in the url and hit enter 3. click the warning-button 4. scroll all the way down to keyword.URL 5. right-click and choose "Standard" ("Reset" in English) or just type in "http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q="

Any fix this simple for Windows Vista very much appreciated. I was able to get rid of the toolbar but this search engine replacement is very annoying. Thank you.

Install/Update Adobe Flash Player for Firefox: your ver. 10.0 r45; current ver. 10.1 r53 (important security update 2010-06-10) See: Updating Flash -use Firefox to download and SAVE to your hard drive (save to Desktop for easy access) -exit Firefox (File > Exit) -check to see that Firefox is completely closed (Ctrl+Alt+Del, choose Task Manager, click Processes tab, if "firefox.exe" is on the list, right-click "firefox.exe" and choose End process, close the Task Manager window) -double-click on the Adobe Flash installer you just downloaded to install/update Adobe Flash -when the Flash installation is complete, start Firefox, and test the Flash installation here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=1

Does this thread solve it for you https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/591482

No sorry, that thread does not help since that's the Mac fix and I'm using Vista.

It is however, the same general issue.

I found the nasty playbox spud hiding in the search box.

Hold down the mouse in the search box and go to "manage search"

playbox has a magnifier icon and is named "web search."

Kill it. It sucks

That is what I would call a Virus, hitching a ride on Firefox. I was ready to bail on Firefox.
