Messages duplicating in subfolders

more options

Hi,

I'd like to know why messages duplicate themselves in subfolders in TB. And what I could do about it.

I use TB 52.9.1 And have the files containing my mails on a NAS that is always connected over Gb LAN. I have many mails, since storage space is no problem, I never delete, I store. 25 Gb. I use POP3 and "Leave mail on server". Cause in that way I can access recent mail also on my phone or webmail. I don't want to use IMAP cause that is limited in space plus it is out of my hands. Everything comes in through the Inbox. There are no rules moving messages to any folder.

Today I ran the plugin "Remove duplicates" on my Inbox (and subfolders) for a change. It deleted 90.000 mails and kept 25.000. Duplication hardly ever happens in the Inbox folder itself. Folders I access more often have more duplicates.

Does someone know why and how these duplicates appear in all those subfolders? And is there something I can do about it while maintaning the settings I described?

Thanks for the help, regards, Thomas.

...I know bumping up ones own message is not much appreciaced on fora. I'll do it only once. I tried to provide as much as possible info. Maybe too much?

I don't know if you'll get an answer. Yours could be a unique use case.

Being able to store anything and everything doesn't strike me as a good reason for doing so.

Yours is not a unique case because, I, too, have the same problem with not only duplicate messages, but triplicate and quadruplicate messages appearing out of nowhere. It's getting so bad that the computer crashes when I try to run the "remove duplicates" program. I'm not getting any responses to my question in this forum and if this doesn't get resolved soon, I will have to go to another email program.

I'm also having this problem and my computer also crashes when I run the remove duplicates add-on. This has been going on for months and I'm not getting any answers from the forum. This is not a "unique problem". I am beginning to use another email program because of the many frustrations I am experiencing with TB. I also never received an answer to an earlier question regarding restoring my address book contacts that were accidentally deleted. I did install the add on that was supposed to help with that, but it did not come with any instructions and I still don't know how to recover my lost addresses. Any information on both of these issues would be helpful and very much appreciated. I would like to keep TB but it's becoming too much of a problem if these issues can't be resolved. Thanks.
