I have been using TB for many years now. This problem just started about 8 months ago. When I first start my computer and then open TB it works fine. After a day or so this problem starts. When I click on "Get mail" it just hangs and at the bottom states "connected to pop server.tampabay.rr.com" I have to reboot my computer to fix the problem. Thanks Tam Inman

Thanks Matt. Disabling the e-mail feature on my Rising Antivirus software does eliminate the problem. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. I do need my e-mail antivirus software....is there something I could change in the virus software to maybe eliminate the problem so I do not have to keep going in and changing the settings?

I suggest you contact the "rising sun" people. There is obviously a bug in the anti virus program (probably a memory leak) that only appears after days of use. Perhaps you need to check mail 100 times before it kicks in or something, I just do not know.

Restarting Thunderbird may reset the issue if you do it before it occurs, but the anti virus people may well be aware of the problem and how to fix it. That is if you speak Chinese as they have removed their English web site and English language versions from last October.
