v91.6.1 - Reading an email using the message pane (nothing else). Touching NOTHING, the screen flicks once; the selected message loses focus and disappears from the pane. Now there are no messages selected in the list.

It is as if some background process refreshes or otherwise changes the view, resulting in loss of focus and loss of the selected item in the mailbox list.

Does it look correct in safe/troubleshoot mode (hold Option when launching TB)?

I had the same problem and was able to restore sanity by setting "browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground" to TRUE.

To set that, go to Edit > Preferences, the General section, (scroll to bottom) then press "Config Editor...", then press "Show All", then search for part of the property name.

Thanks firefox1574 (and sfhowes), altho I cannot confirm. Several other bothersome glitches & shortcomings recently drove me back to gmail's web access for now (and uninstalled Thunderbird)... presently on the lookout for an email client I can live with.
