Just received a supposed Firefox Update Marked "Important Firefox update available. Click "Install" to continue" Yet when I click the Install I get a Warning " You are attempting to install an add-on from 'performoverlyoriginalapplication.icu. Make sure you trust this site before continuing" Is this a legitimate Firefox update, and IF IT IS - why do I get that warning from Firefox. I do NOT know, so therefore can NOT "trust" performoverlyoriginalapplication.icu. Can someone who knows this subject better PLEASE advise whethere this is a legitimate update for Firefox and can they be trusted. Also IF that is the caes why does Firefox send me a "warning"???? Thanks for your help.

Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated;

DO NOT USE ANY OF PROVIDED LINKS

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Anytime you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the website of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to https://www.mozilla.org

You can report such a site at; http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/ Google Report Phishing Page which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/i-found-fake-firefox-update

Firefox updates have Always been done internally in Firefox or by download from *.mozilla.org

Mozilla does not use random name sites to provide Firefox updates.

Neither Mozilla or the Firefox web browser sent you this fake warning this but rather you may have got a malvertising Ad on some site and got sent this fake update page.

Since you mentioned Flash Player. The Flash is installed on the OS and not in Firefox so updates are done in Flash or download from Adobe depending on OS. Btw Adobe is discontinuing their Flash at end of 2020 and sites hardly use Flash now and use say HTML5 for video, audio and games now.
