How to set the cursor to default to New Tab Search Engine not the URL

more options

Since FF was updated to the latest (76.0.01) the new tab extension no longer opens with the cursor on the search engine box but has been changed to the URL bar. Sorry but I can't stand this. I want to have what I had before when I opened a new tab. The cursor defaulted to the search engine box. I'll be tickled pink if I can get that to work again. That's all I want. Can anyone pleazzze help me resolve this? Thanks!

I probably should have included that I changed the options on the New Tab. I changed it from URL to the Current Home Page but it still isn't working.  :( Am I missing something?

The following is what the changed New Tab says:

"If this option is enabled, Firefox will use the home page as the new tab page, too. You can change the home page by typing about:preferences#home in the address bar. Only home pages starting with http:// or https:// are supported. If multiple home pages are configured, New Tab Override will use the first one."

It opens to the New Tab with no problem but the cursor continues to show up in the address bar instead of the search engine bar.

Hi JT, that's strange, there's a note for version 14.3.0 that says

"-removed the option to set the focus to the web page instead of the address bar since the focus is now always on the web page due to a change by Mozilla in Firefox 61"

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/versions/

When I test, the focus is in the page. (Depending on the page, it may or may not be in a useful place in the page. ;-)

I wonder whether you might have any conflicting settings or add-ons?
