My computer got infected by a lot of Ad-ware, etc. when I tried to update java. I thought I got it all cleared out. I have uninstalled Firefox and went through Regedit and deleted any Mozilla items and then reinstalled Firefox. When I have a FF browser open and try to select FF Options or Add-ons from the Open menu, I get a new browser window that uses a URL of search.safefinder.com/?st=dd&q=. How do I get Options and Add-ons to work properly?

The refresh got the options and add-ons to work. There were no extensions listed. I am running MalwareBytes now.

Thanks.

hello, you probably have malicious software present on your system, so please perform all these steps:

  1. refresh firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
  2. afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
  3. finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
