I upgraded firefox and lost ALL bookmarks

Clicked update later when a prompt came up. Turned on my computer the next day and when I opened firefox a window came up telling me the update was installed (I NEVER asked for it to be). The window asked if I' like to import bookmarks from IE, I clicked no because all my bookmarks are in firefox. When the window closed I then found out that EVERYTHING (bookmarks, saved forum data, passwords, history...) was erased.

I have been using firefox for years and never had any kind of problem, nothing but good things to say until now. If I can't get my 2-3 years worth of info back I will be uninstalling firefox and making sure EVERYONE I know does the same.
