Firefox 5 doesnt seem to let me open mailto links in gmail. I am using a mac on snow leapord.

Further more I have gone into preferences and set to Mailto application to be gmail and it still dosen't work. Any suggestions.

I think this may actually be a Google gmail change that is causing it. If you look at the application details when in preferences/mailto application, the URL displayed is no longer the one gmail uses. I'm guessing Google changed the URL in order to prepare for the new and improved gmail. So either Mozilla will need to update the URL for gmail in the applications area or Google will have to make a change on their end. It'd be nice if Mozilla allowed users to update the URLs themselves.

I don't think gmail's URL has changed. It still works for me if I use it manually.

I have the same problem with mailto links and Gmail. I have tested the specified link (https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s) manually and it works fine. The same link invoked with FF5 fails and no error message is displayed. This was definitely working in previous version of FF. Don't know of anything else that has changed. I am a Windows Vista user.

I have this same problem, and it started when I upgraded to FF 5. Never had the problem before. FireFox should fix this. I have sent a message about this to Mozilla support many times but never gotten any response. I am a Windows 7 User.
