A theme is a type of Firefox add-on which changes the visual appearance of Firefox. This article describes how to find, install and manage themes in Firefox.

What are themes?
A theme changes the appearance of Firefox, such as the color scheme and background image of the toolbars. Some types of themes can also change the buttons' appearance and can make Firefox look like a completely different program.
There are two types of themes available for Firefox:
- Background themes - lightweight themes that can change the color scheme and background image of the Firefox toolbars.
- Complete themes - more customizable than background themes, but larger to download.
Note: Complete themes will stop being supported with Firefox version 57. All themes for Firefox version 57 and above are lightweight (background) themes. Complete themes are not supported. See Built-in themes in Firefox - alternative to complete themes. For more information, please see Firefox Add-on Technology is Modernizing and its Frequently Asked Questions.
